Who was Helen Keller - By Leslie Garrett

The book, Helen Keller: A Photographic Story of a Life, by Leslie Garrett is about the life of Helen Keller and what she came to be. She was born with her senses of seeing and hearing but at a young age, she was diagnosed with an illness that left her blind and deaf believed to be called scarlet fever. But she overcame her obstacles in life and was still able to succeed even though she was deaf and blind. That didn't mean that was going to stop her. She became an author and lecturer for the handicapped. She wanted to help others that were also blind and deaf. She has become one of the most influential people in life.

I really learned a lot about this book, how someone even though in life, at moments it can be hard, people could still pass through their obstacles and never give up. I also learned how one person can change how we see life through positivity. Overall, I liked this book and got to learn more things about Helen Keller's personal life. It was very interesting how she never gave up and was a happy women even though she was blind and deaf. I would suggest people to read this book, it is such an inspiring book.

Looking for Alaska - By John Green

The book, Looking for Alaska, by John Green is about this group that likes to pull pranks off campus to other students and teachers. This young teen named Miles Halter, nicknamed Pudge, before he went to Alabama for boarding school, his life would change forever. His life will no longer be safe and everything will change. He gets into a group that does pranks off campus in Alabama. Pudge gets in love with this girl named Alaska in the group. But Alaska was always a mysterious girl. She never talked about her past. Everyone else did, why not her? Once Pudge, starts going out with her, he starts to realize what has happened in her past and realizes why she likes to do pranks. But one night, Alaska goes missing and no one knows what has happened to her. Did she die, commit suicide, or went somewhere, where she can be alone? Who knows but what really caused her to leave everyone's life, was because of her past, and knew that everyone would not look at her the same if they ever found out.

In my opinion, this book was really phenomenal because I love mystery books, where you don't know what happened in the book, where the book makes you go on and on to read it and find out. In the beginning of the book, it was a little boring but then towards the middle there was a mystory and st the end, I found out the real cause of what cause Alaska to leave everyone's lives. My favorite quote was, "The only way out of the labyrinth of suffering is to forgive." It was favorite quote because in life, we have to learn to forgive, if not, we will always live with hate, and life is to short to be hating on anybody else. We are all human, we need to forgive others because we all do mistakes. Overall, I liked this book, as it went on, it kept getting intense, which got me really into it. There was also a lot of imagery because the author used so much description.

Life is Beautiful

In Life is Beautiful, it is basically about a family during the Holocaust that tried to do anything possible to survive and be together once again. Guido, a man that is jewish, falls in love a women that isn't jewish, named Dora. Since this movie is based on the time during the Holocaust, one day, the Nazis take him and his family. Even though, Dora wasn't jewish, she still went with them because she still wanted to be with her family. This malicious group called The Nazis take them into a train to go to the concentration camp. It is a love story, but also a story that is sad because they try to do anything possible to be together once again with their son, named Goisue.

The similarities between the movie, Life is Beautiful, and what we've read in class is that it told us about how Jews were hated on just because of their religion. This movie is similar to the readings in class is that jews were taken into trains that didn't have much space for them and how they we're then sent to the concentration camps. The jews were either put to work for them or if they were old or too young, they would be killed. They were told by the Nazis that they needed to go take showers, so they thought they we're going to take showers, when actually they were killed by gas chambers. The differences between the movie and what we've learned in class is when Guido and Dora would talk for so long and would'nt even get caught. In the readings, it tells us how jews couldn't have the freedom and never were put together with families. In the readings, jews were always watched by the Nazis. A huge difference is that in the movie, it had more happy moments than the readings, that were really crucial on what happened to the jews.

This movie at the same time is homorous and suspenseful. It was homorous because throughout the movie, Guido and Dora are doing everything to be together and never be seperated from each other. It is also humorous when Guido and his family are taken into the train that was headed to the camps, and Guido tells his son that they are playing a game to win, since Guido didn't want him to know what will happen to them. The movie is suspenseful when Guido is killed by the Nazis guards and when you wasn't sure if the son would get caught or not.

Life is shown as beautiful throughout the movie because it showed us how a family would do anything to stay together and not get seperated. It told me that no matter what, nothing will ever seperate them. They cared more about there families than anything else. It was also beautiful at the beggining of the movie, when Guido and Dora fall in love with each other and are both happy.

Earth Day

This year it was my second time participating to clean up the community for Earth Day. I am not going to lie, I participated for Earth Day because I didn't have enough points, and if I attented and helped out clean up the community, I would earn 15 points. The school put us into groups and assigned a speific area around heritage. My group and I set up a game that if whoever collected more trash at the end would win. Not only did this make it fun for us, but it made have alot of energy and proud of really caring for our community. At the end, although, I didn't win, I felt proud of myself and felt useful that I helped out the community. I collected sticks, wrappers, etc. I participated in Earth Day not just for points but to clean up garbage around the city. I truly hate seeing trash outside on the ground. People don't care if they litter and it makes me mad. What if a tourists comes or a visitor that is trying to live in our community? They will infer that we are irresponsible people and that we don't care if we litter our community. But if we take care of the Earth and the community, others will see how we actually care about the Earth. Overall, at the end, cleaning up the community was a nice experience.

Graduating 8th Grade

This year, I will graduate from 8th grade and go onto high school. I feel successful that I have accomplished a lot of hard things in middle school and will keep doing that through high school. My parents and I are very proud of myself that I have accomplished 1 of the many worthy moments in life. Going onto high school is like moving one step further into my future. Day by day, I am growing, learning more and more things, and overall, accomplishing things in life. Personally, I feel happy that I am finally going to high school after 8 years and starting to become more independent, successful, and responsible. I really evaluate my education because it depends on my future, the type of person I am in life, and how I live. High school makes me worry a little though. I've been planning my future and what classes I will take in high school, so I can be successful. I'm determined that I will do good in high school through hard work and perseverance. Everything I do right now, will impact my life.

Having a Baby Sister

My dad, brothers, and I waited patiently and anxiously while waiting for my baby sister to be born. I knew my baby sister will change my life in a positive way because I never had a sister before, I am the oldest in the family, and I have two brothers. I always wanted to have a sister because I wanted someone that I could take care of and defend her. I had to wait a whole night in the hospital and then the next day, in the morning, my baby sister was born and my whole family, even my mom, were all happy that god gave us another family member to the family. I was so happy, I can't even explain in words, but I already had the love for her ever since I first got to hold her and hug her. my baby sister has had a big impact in my life and love her to death. She is so loquacious and is always a pain in the butt, but I still love her no matter what. Everyday, when I get home from school, she is screaming like crazy and smiling. She gets happy when she hasn't seen me for a while and comes to hug me every time I get home. Here and there, she gets me to play with her and chase her around the house. She is so joyful and is the blessing of my entire family.

Going Camping

Last year, during summer, it would be my first time going camping, which I was really excited for. My family and I stayed for three days with my uncle's family too. All those three days, I experienced a lot of things when I went camping . We would put music full blast at night, while cooking. My cousins, brothers, and I would also spent the whole days riding bikes around, playing soccer, and going swimming. We would also talk about real life stories while eating marshmallows. My Dad and my Uncle would also make teams, and we would play soccer. I really liked going camping, and might go again this summer. I liked going camping because I like being out in the fresh air, and enjoying time with my family because we got more closer and got to interact with each other more. One of my favorite moment when I went camping was when we got to race with two four-wheeler motorcycles. I mostly won all the races between my cousins and my brothers, but then I couldn't beat my dad. Overall, I loved going camping and do all these fun things than sit at my house and watch TV and play video games.

Canelo vs. Golovkin!

Who will win on September 16 of 2017? Will it be Gennady Golovkin or Canelo Alvarez? Who knows, but the fight has been scheduled to be on September 16 of this year. After the Canelo vs Chavez Jr. fight, when Canelo won by unanimous decision, right after Chavez left the ring, Triple G entered the ring and stood face to face to Canelo. These two great fighters have shown their skills and how they rule the place, but no one can really say who is really the best professional boxer right now until one comes winner of this fight. Canelo has showed that he can fight the best without having fear and is confident that it is his era. But Triple G is a strong fighter with many K.O.'s. I don't know who will win but I do go for Canelo. Canelo has the speed in his shot but GGG has the power in his shot. This will be the well waited boxing match ever since Mayweather and Pacquiao. Who knows who will win since they are both great. Some say GGG will win others say Canelo will win, but I for sure will go for Canelo and hope he wins. He has inspired me so much ever since I was 8 and my dad got me into boxing since he also loves boxing. I have always went for Canelo in every match he has fought in and will continue to go for him. He is also one of my favorite boxers of all time. Like it or not, he is the best Mexican boxer currently and will defeat GGG in September! He has demonstrated that he can win any match and is not scared of nobody.

Powerful & Powerless

I feel most powerful when my parents are happy when I get good grades and don't disappoint them as I grow up and become more and more successful as school years are passing. I feel powerful because my parents mean so much to me in this world, and knowing that they are happy for me because I'm doing good at school, makes me feel powerful. It also makes me feel powerful, because every year that I do good at school and get good grades, my parent's know I love going to Mexico in the summer, let me go and I have so much fun over there, feeling free and joyful. It makes me feel powerful because I know I gained this, that I earned this through hard work and effort in school. I feel most powerless when my parent's are disappointed at me for something I know I did wrong and made them upset at me for my errors and mistakes in life. When I get detentions in school, or get written up, my parents get upset. I feel like I make them feel embarrassed for what I do wrong because I know I have failed them because nothing makes me feel much better than seeing my parents proud of me not disappointed. But when I feel powerless, I still feel like I'm powerful in some way because I acknowledge that I've done wrong and learn from my mistakes to not do it again.

Stereotypes of Racism

The worst stereotype that is affecting our world is how we see different people just because of their race. Many see all African Americans as bad people, that they are gangster, criminals, and thugs. Also, many see Mexicans as immigrants, rapist, and criminals, and that they come to this country to destroy it. But that's not the case, it's like saying, "Well he's black, so he is gangster" or "He's Mexican, so he is a criminal" or "He's muslim, so he is a terrorized." It doesn't depend on their race, every human has their own decisions that they want to take in life. I mean not all white people are racist, not all Mexicans come here to cause crime, and not all African Americans are gangsters. This is so bad because this is all caused by society that makes us be fooled and we shouldn't have labels under us. This is how society functions now, we make up stereotypes and lead to racism, violence, and hate.

The Greatest Muhammad Ali

The book, The Greatest Muhammad Ali, by Walter Dean Myers, is basically about Muhammad Ali and the obstacles he had to go through in order to get passed them and be what he wanted, to be a professional boxer,. He also wanted to be the greatest of all time in boxing history. As a child, his family and him were living in a bad neighborhood, where they could barely make a living. He wanted to get out of poverty and be someone in life someday. He one day, then started to try out boxing. Despite the fact, that he had to go through racism and hate due to that he was African American. It wouldn't be easy for him, having to be discriminated on and off the boxing ring or in his career. But after having a success in trying to become a boxer and ignoring the hate, he never gave up on what he loved to do. He had his head way up high and knew what he wanted to do in life. During his boxing career, he never gave up, kept fighting, and wasn't scared of anyone. He later then got awarded and received the golden glove. This is how much he loved the sport and kept going. Doing everything possible to be the greatest. He just had the passion, love, and courage for this sport. Besides having a great boxing career, he also inspired manu other African Americans to fight for equality and stop racism. He wasn't just the greatest boxer of all tims, he was an inspiring and motivational person in life that thought about others, not just himself.

I picked this book out due to that Muhammad Ali also inspired me to keep on going even though something is in your way. If you want to achieve something, you have to fight for it. If it means to do the impossible, than do the impossible. There are no limits, only you are the person that will stop yourself from what you want to be or do in life. If you want to be someone in life, you won't stop until you get what you want. This is why one of my favorite sports is boxing, because Ali motivated me to never give up and put forth the effort in what I love doing.

Twisted - Laurie Halse Anderson

The book, Twisted, by Laurie Halse Anderson, is about high school senior named Tyler Miller that for years, has liked a girl in his school named Benthany Milbury, which she is the daughter of the boss where Tyler's Dad works. Tyler never really got any attetion from any girls and was like a "nerd" and not popular in high school. Since Bethany is really gorgeous to everyone in the school, Tyler thinks he'll never get the chance to go out with Bethany. But, then senior year came around, and Tyler has decided to do something remarkable, where nobody will underestimate him ever again. So, one night, he does graffiti on one of the school's walls, but what he doesn't know is that there is a camera outside the building. Soon after he gets caught and has through probation and work to help out his damages to the school. While senior year still goes on through the book, Tyler is becoming more popular and everybody knows him. Even Bethany starts getting close to him and later, she catches feeling for Tyler too. She invites Tyler to a few football games, but then Halloween came around, and she invites Tyler to a Halloween party. Things look like they will get better and they will soon be together. But in the halloween party, where they go into a room, and kiss, not much intense things. But Tyler helds her back because she's drunk and thinks it's wrong to do that to her. So, after the party, Tyler gives Bethany, Parker, which is a junior, and Chip, Bethany's brother, that is quite mean to Tyler. Only when Tyler sees Parker and Bethany kissing, of course he gets mad and drops them off and believes the things between them they already have started, will to down. The next day, on the internet, there are naked pictures of Bethany that people think that Tyler did this. So, police investigate and after awhile, they found Tyler's innocence and his family is happy. After all this, his family and him want to forget about everything that has happened and move on, trying to shape up their lives.

I feel like this book, didn't really have a theme, but I thought about it and figured that it was trying to tell me, because of all the problems that happened to Tyler, is that anyone can have a lot of problems in life and you will always be underestimated. But doesn't mean you should give up on you and fail. Instead you should learn from your mistakes and forget about what happened in the past, if you wver did something wrong and let it go. It made sense to me that I even though we might have problems and go through hard things in life, we can still make the choice if we want it like that or if we want to change. Eveyone has the ability to shape up their life and go through a good path in life in order to succeed and forget about all the negative things that happened to you in the passed. To not let the things that happened in the past, bother you in the present and the choices you make in life.

Propaganda

This propaganda is about the Holocaust because Hitler and the Nazis blamed the Jews for Germany's problems. On this propaganda, "Der ist schuld am kriege" means "Who is to blame for the war." And as you see, a Nazi member is blaming the Jew. "Jude" means "Jew." I picked this propaganda because it really stood out to me. This was actually true because Hitler and the Nazis hated Jews as well as other groups. Adolf Hitler then started to convey others that Jews were the reason for Germany's problems and they would fed in and followed the leader. Soon enough, after Hitler would take power of Germany, the Nazis did all these terible things to the Jews, just because of their religion and hatred toward them. So, they set up concentration camps, where Jews would be forced to work hard until the Nazis didn't need them, and then killed them. Jews barely got anything to eat, some were lucky to stay alive for a long time, and others would not make it due to hunger or disease. Jews were also put into ghettos, that are small cities, where Jews lived, and the Nazis put ghettos to keep Jews segregated and have no rights. Kids and elderly people were prosecuted right away because the Nazis didn't need them or thought they were useless. This is why I picked this propaganda, it has alot of affect and is really related on why and how Hitler and Nazis hated Jews and why the holocaust occurred. It was all because of hatred toward Jews.

A Moment In Life I Regret

I regret when I didn't do anything to help out my family and was a always getting in trouble in elementary school. I didn't care about school and did whatever I wanted. When my parents come here to America to find a better life for our whole family. They came here and work hard so I can be able to get a well-payed career when I grew up, but before that, they wanted me to not grow up poor like they did. They came here for a reason, so I can have a better life and better opportunities. At the end of the year in 5th grade, I got all these C's and D's. They were dissappointed because I wasn't like this, I used to try in school and get good grades when I was below 5th grade. But then 5th grade came around, I stopped trying just because I was lazy and was stubborn that there was too much homework. When the school was just preparing me for middle school. My parents were so upset at me and gave me a whole lecture about why they work hard and why they came here to America, so I can do my hardest at school and become someone when I'm older.

That's when I realized I had failed them and disappointed them. I felt that I needed to get myself back together and try my hardest in school, so I can move forward and make my family happy. My parents always told me that school goes frist in life, besides being healthy, when trying to accomplish something. So, I thought about it, and until this day, I haven't failed my parents. I have gotten good grades and been making my parents happy throughout middle school. Yes, I might get in trouble here in there, but I complete my homework, and study to get good grades when taking assessments. I feel happy about myself and that my parents are proud of me. Now, I comprehend why my parents make such an effort to make me and my brothers do good in school, and go to college to get a career.

If I Could Any Famous Person It Would Be...

If I could meet any famous person, it would be Chalino Sanchez. He is a Mexican singer that sang corridos, which is a certain type of music in Mexico. Corridos are usually talkin about someone in real life or something that happened in real life. Although, he passed away in 1992, I would've liked to meet him even though I wasn't even born at those times, so I wish they wouldn't of killed him. He never got to go on to his fascinating career to be even better of an artist that he already was. He gained so much fame because of the songs he made. He just made songs because that's what he loved to do. A lot of people back then, even now, still appreciate him and the songs he made. He inspired a lot of Hispanics to be proud of our culture. He was actually known as "El Rey Del Corrido" which means "King of the Corrido". But, some narcos killed him, just because he inspired hispanics and gained a lot of fame with his songs.

We would spend time together and I would ask him so much questions. I would ask him types of questions about how it inspired him to pass a message through these songs he did. We would go on his pick-up truck, that is well-designed and ride for awhile. We would also ride horses together at a ranch and enjoy Mexico. I would ask him about when he knew that singing was what he wanted in life and teach me how to sing one of his songs. This person is worth meeting because I love his songs and he is my favorite Mexican singer of corridos. He is from past times but I love corridos back then, than now. Back then, songs were way better than the corridos right now. Today's music is nothing compared to the past ones. Chalino Sanchez is also worth meeting because any mexican would love to meet him, he was just a very humbled man, that wasn't a show-off and was a respectful artist too.

List of Things That Make Me Happy

Happiness to me is.....
  • When I try my hardest in school so I can make my parents happy and get good grades
  • When I play my favorite sports (baseball, boxing, basketball, and soccer) because when I play sports, they let me forget all the negative things around me
  • When I get home and see my parents and my little sisiter happy because I'm happy when my loved ones are also happy.
  • When I know I'm healthy thanks to my parents
  • When my parents work hard to buy you what we want
  • When I get time to go out with the girl I love (when I'm in a relationship)
  • My family keeps me happy because they always look out for me
  • Going on vacations in the summer, like going to Mexico and having fun over there, riding horses and so much more
  • Music because when I have a bad day, I listen to music and it lets me be more energized and delighted
  • Laughing so much at jokes my family or friends make
  • Watching funny movies or scary movies
  • El Chema, which is a narcotics/cartel TV series
  • Being able to go to school, to get an education so in the future, I can be somebody in life and get paid well with a good earning job
  • Helping out others when their in need, such as giving money to the poor
  • Knowing that I am respectful to others and being kind
  • Knowing that I'm going into a good path in life to find success and staying out of the bad things in life

Perseverance

A time I had to persevere is when I was playing soccer and in one of my games, I was running down the field with the ball, ready to score a goal but then this other player on the other team trips me and fell hard. I couldn't get up, my leg hurt so bad that I couldn't stand up and play. I thought I would be injurd and be out for a few games. But I still needed to play and make that penalty so my team could win. After awhile, as it hurt really bad, I got up and got ready for my penalty. I had mixed feelings in that moment. I was nervous, at the same time still hurt. So, I then shot, praying to god the goalie wouldn't block it and made the goal and my team was happy and so was I. Either way, I was still confident in myself I would make the goal, I'm not saying I'm the best, but I know I'm good at one of the sports I love. This story relates to Nick because we both have self-confidence. He was confident that he could do anything possible even in his adversity. He knew that he could still be alike like all people and he always keeps a smile, because he simply doesn't let himself down, even though he has no arms nor legs. I also have self confidence in everything that I need to prove or maybe not even prove that I know I can do something. I always try my hardest in things, from school to the sports I love playing. We both try our hardest and think we can do it because we know within ourselves, we'll make it because nobody will think you're somebody, if you don't think so yourself.

Best Superbowl Commercial

The Superbowl Commercial that was most impactful was the one from 84 Lumber where it is a commercial about immigration. I picked this one because in the commercial there is a woman and what seems to be her daughter, trying to get to the other side of the border, which is the U.S. They are trying to come to the U.S. to get a better life an support their family because in their home countries like Mexico, the economy is poor and weak, where as in the U.S. there are far more opportunities for people to succeed due to the better economy and beter jobs for a decent pay. I felt like this commecial wanted to get across is that even if they build the wall between the border of the U.S. and Mexico, people can always be welcomed here and nothing can stop people that are going through hard times in their countries and just want to come here for a better life. As in the commecial, this woman and her daughter are walking and walking through the desert until they reach the border and the wall, but these construction workers work hard to make a door through the wall so people can enter the U.S. and succeed. These constitution workers build a giant door or opening because they want to help these poor people that are coming here for a better life, get a chance to be able to overcome the obstacles and succeed here, in the U.S. This commercial, in my opinion, was really amazing because even though whats happening now, they want us to think about how instead of all this racism and hate in our country, we should all be united and be happy together in the U.S., where this country gives us the opportunities to succeed and have hope and freedom. People or immigrants, just come here looking for a better life for their families and themselves to be able to have jobs, in order for them to feed their families and overcome the obstacles they faced in their countries. Overall, I really liked this commercial, it emphasized a great idea, that no matter what, people are always welcomed in the U.S.

Best Advice

The best advice I have ever receieved was when my parents told me that I should go into a good path in life  and not into a bad one. What they meant by that was to not do drugs and get invooved in gangs and all that. They wanted me to stay in school and do my homework so I can get a career when I grow up and get all this money the right way, not the bad way. They meant that they cared about me and wanted me to succeed in life. At first, I was like, well whatever I'll see what will happen later on. But now, I actually have had it in my head to remind me that I do want to make my parents happy and I don't want to fail them, when they always look after me and do all these sacrifices for me to have food, shelter, and water. What I mean is that they work hard for my brothers and I, so we could grow up healthy and with a loving family. So, I feel like it's my turn to make them happy and by that, all I could do right now is bringing home good grades and doing good at school. I also, here and there, tell them what I want to do with my life when I grow up and they believe in me, that I could do it. I would want myself to be someone about business and money and they are really proud of me. This is also why they are my major persons in life why I want myself to succeed so I can make them really happy and give them what they once gave me. The love, the support, and the hope within the family. This is why I actually want to take this advice and take it with me until I succeed and get a career and a family. To be happy is the key to life and that's what I want and what my parents want for me. I have this advice really explicitly within me whenever something is hard for me but I know I shouldn't give up.

My Brother vs. Me

The worst argument I have ever gotten into was with my brother. We usually always get into fights for whatever reason and end up actually fighting each other or tell on my parents to get payback or something. My brother and I love each other so much because we've always been there for each other  no matter what but we also get into fights. Simply, we both, at the same time, hate and love each other. We have our ups and downs, one second we are like best friends, but then in a flash, we are enemies and get mad at each other. We always get into arguments for the tyniest things possible but don't go too far because either I stop caring what he did or he tells on me and my parents tell us to stop. But, one day, it came to the point where my brother was so mad at me because of something I did to him that when I was lying down in bed, watching tv he punched me, won't get into much detail but, because I stole his $150 from his birthday party. Well, supposedly, because we always pull pranks on each other. So I told him I got myself a fresh pair of Jordan's, when I didn't. I just hid the bill under his shirts, in the drawer. He usually never makes the pranks I do to him a big deal, but this time, he took it too serious. Finally, after all this explaining, the punch to my stomach hurt so much, that he took the air out of me and hurt for like straight 10 minutes. I told my parents about what happened and got mad at us. They made us sit at the table in the dining room to lecture us on why we should love each other and never have hate for each other because we were made to be brothers and we have our backs. He also told us that pranks aren't funny and made us stop. We felt so mortified after our parents gave us our lecture and learned that pranks aren't funny. We are supposed to have love for each other and look out for one another and not fight. We are family and family can have ups and downs, but at the end of the day, I know, and my brother knows, no one will ever understand our bond and how we got our backs no matter what!

Fake It Till You Become It

In my life, the aspects that I feel most confident about are when I'm playing sports like baseball, soccer, basketball, boxing, and most importantly, school. When I play with my family and go out to the park to enjoy and play sports or when I play with my friends at school, or when I am in a sport team, no matter what, I know what I'm doing and what I love. I feel confident playing the sports I like because I feel so much passion and love for the sports I love. I have too much passion to be worried or anxious when I'm playing my favorite sports, if I mess up or do a mistake. I am so focused on knowing I could do whatever I want me to do. I know that I am not the best nor the suckiest sports player but I know I could do this and feel so much confidence in the game due to passion that I leave all the ignorance away and clear my mind while playing my sports. In school, I also feel very confident because I know I pay attention in all of my classes and do my homework, so when it's time for a test, I feel very confident I can succeed because I try my hardest in school and study hard before a test. I like to ask my teachers when I don't get something and feel happy when they help me out and then I know what I'm doing. I also, don't step back in class, if I have a question, I say it out loud and don't keep it holding in me. When the teachers ask us to find the answer, I feel confident I can get the answer right and if I get it wrong, it actually gives me more confidence because I know I will try and persevere through the hardest parts in school without feeling a doubt. The thing that I feel that I need a confident boost is saying what I feel inside or my opinions. I usually tend to keep everything I feel inside stay inside me and don't tell nobody how bad or good I feel.

Where I'm From Poem

                                                 Where I'm From

                                                 By: Uriel Varela

I'm from a family that has lots of joy and happiness,
where we care for each other, have respect for each other, and most of all,
       have love for each other
I'm from a home where all you hear is cheers, crying, and laughing

I'm from where people live life to the fullest and enjoy their culture with pride
I'm from Mexico, where all you do all day is have fun, have freedom,
ride horses and feed all these animals in the back yard
I'm from where people say "Go feed the animals" or "take them out" everyday

      I'm from adrenaline and happiness
      where you have no limit
      I am delighted because
I love where I'm from and
what I came to be from,
      where I'm from!

Deep Zone

The book Deep Zone by Tim Green is about a kid named Ty that is a high school football player in New Jersey, New York. He is following his brother's, Thane's, steps. Thane is bigger than Ty and is in the NFL. with the New York Jets. Both of them don't have their parents by their sides. They passed away in a car accident when they were small and now live with their uncle and his family. But that brings them consequences on their achievements in football. Their uncle, Gus, is associated with the D'Amico family, shich is a mafia or mob in New Jersey. They want Thane and Ty because they have money and if their uncle helps them out, he'll get a lot of money for passing information about them. Uncle Gus has been with them even before he had to look out on Thane and Ty. But the moment the mob tells uncle Gus to help them kidnapp both of their nephews he refuses. So, he tells their nephews on what the mob wants to do about them and get their money, they all go call the FBI. During the story, the mob keeps investigating while their uncle is under heavy secuirty with the FBI and have been a lot of FBI's and military soldiers in the games of Thane. Only Thane because he is in the national league but his brother is only in his high school football team ready to get drafted to the NFL. After awhile his brother gets injured in his calf when a player in the opposite team crushed him when he catched the football and scored a touchdown. So he gets into rehab and has ro stay in a hospital for a couple weeks until his injury is fine. So, while Thane is injured, Ty and his high school team , named the Falcons, have a tournament and go all the way to the finals all because of Ty.

It would take time until Ty would have the championship finals in Miami Florida. So, it gives his brother time to try to walk a little with crutches and atleast walk. But before the next day they would fly to Miami, somebody broke into their house and tried to rob anything they could take that was rich, filthy for them. It was a guy that was a member of the mob. But, since they have 24/7 security, an FBI is in the house protecting them. When Agent Sutherland hears a noise upstairs at midnight, which was weird because Ty and Thane should of been sleeping already for the big day. So, he arrests the guy that wanted to break in and rob their rich things. The FBI got aclot of information on the guy and now know that the mob will be in Ty's championship finals game. So, with the information, the FBI gets ready to defend anyone in the game and Ty and Thane. When it is time for the game, the public and the FBI notice they haven't arrived to the game and are late to the game if they come. The FBI especially Agent Sutherland wich is the head agent for this investigation, start to feel that the mob has already taken them in the wrong plane. They know that the plane they got on to arrive at the game was replaced with the mob's plane. Ty and Thane are kidnapped but then are able to be saved by their Uncle Gus, that secretly knows where the mob stays. Luckily he had followed one of the mobsters and uncovered their place. The FBI arrests the mob and Ty and Thane can live their live again without any worries.

Clowns sightings around Berwyn 🤡

Have you heard about the clowns in your community? We'll this information will help you be updated and be safe.

The summer is ending and fall is breaking. Halloween is around the corner and people are ready to celebrate, wear costumes and go trick-or-treating. But, people have heard that clowns are terrorizing people. They are everywhere around the U.S. and are trying to scare people and even kill them. People are making fake accounts of clowns on social media and are messaging people about threats and posting threats that they will be at a certain place and a certain time. They say they will kill and take kids. They are also chasing people with knifes. They might just want to scare people and dress up as a clown for fun, but kids and adults are scared and have gone too far.

Hey! Have you heard about the clowns and how they chase people around with knifes? Well, I have some information to keep you updated! To start off, the summer has been ending and fall will be breaking. Halloween is right around the corner and people are ready to celebrate and wear costumes to go trick-or-treating. However, people have heard that clowns are terrorizing people as a joke for Halloween. They are everywhere around the U.S. and are trying to scare people and even kill them. People are making fake accounts of clowns on social media and are messaging/threatening people about killing and posting threats that they will be at a certain place and a certain time to terrorize. They say they will kill and take kids. They are also chasing people with knifes. They might just want to scare people and dress up as a clown for fun, but kids and adults are scared and have gone too far. People are afraid. They don't want to go out!

There has been lots of reports of sightings of clowns. One case, was about teens at Heritage Middle School, in Berwyn IL, where several teens were at a after school program at Proksa Park, and saw a clown appear from the bushes and the clown started chasing the kids. I mean, look at it, they think its fun to scare children. So, watch out parents, keep an eye on your children because something terribly could happen to your children, with all these clowns around. Another case, was about another sighting in Chicago, where a teen was throwing away the garbage at night, and out of nowhere, a clown is standing there holding a knife in the alley, and the clown starts chasing her. Other cases, I've heard about in the last few weeks were about clowns all over the country, just chasing people without knowing, these innocent people, are actually scared. Some clowns have even killed people, which they might intend to or not, they have gone to far.

Overall, to society, it's a threat for it, people can't go outside knowing they might get killed by a clown. We can end this by reporting sightings of clowns to the police. Even others have fought clowns to tell them to stop doing this and have reported it to the police. Police were able to capture some clowns in Chicago cities, like Berwyn or Cicero. Together we can stop this and make the community a better, safe place.

Everything You Do Matters

This winter break, I helped out my parents around the house. When I was home with my siblings and my mom, while my dad was working, I helped her clean around the house with everything I could because I didn't really have nothing to do and I wanted to make my mom happy that I help her back, just like she helps me when I go through tough times like her. She sometimes stresses out because everyday she's always doing everything around the house, she cooks and cleans the whole house. So, I figured it was my time to help her out with things and clean for her. I got up the days I was home, which were the days I didn't go help out my dad in his job so early, and did her bed, washed the dishes when there were a lot in the sink, took out the garbage, and sweeped around the house. After all that, my mom would be happy for me and I could notice it because the smile she always put on her face after I wouls finish all the chores. It also made me happy to help out my mom a lot. All she would have to do is cook and do other little things. I figured I should help my mom out during these days I'm at home for Christmas break. I also helped out my dad some days in his job, well his other job that lets me work with him, not his real one. He has two jobs at doing the same thing, being a mechanic in semi-trucks, I would only help him when he went to his seasonal job, his friend was his boss. He only worked there to get advantage to make more money instead of getting paid single off his real job. So, I would go to that job with my dad to help him with little things he needed. I couldn't really help him because I didn't know nohing about mechanic work, but I did know all the tools that may be needed to change the oil or something. I helped him out by helping him carry heavy tools and other tools while he was busy fixing the semi-truck. I mean I didn't really help my dad a lot because I didn't know how to do that job he does, but even a little thing can make a big difference in someone's heart and they feel good about you, that you're a good person that thinks positive and helps other people.
