A Moment In Life I Regret

I regret when I didn't do anything to help out my family and was a always getting in trouble in elementary school. I didn't care about school and did whatever I wanted. When my parents come here to America to find a better life for our whole family. They came here and work hard so I can be able to get a well-payed career when I grew up, but before that, they wanted me to not grow up poor like they did. They came here for a reason, so I can have a better life and better opportunities. At the end of the year in 5th grade, I got all these C's and D's. They were dissappointed because I wasn't like this, I used to try in school and get good grades when I was below 5th grade. But then 5th grade came around, I stopped trying just because I was lazy and was stubborn that there was too much homework. When the school was just preparing me for middle school. My parents were so upset at me and gave me a whole lecture about why they work hard and why they came here to America, so I can do my hardest at school and become someone when I'm older.

That's when I realized I had failed them and disappointed them. I felt that I needed to get myself back together and try my hardest in school, so I can move forward and make my family happy. My parents always told me that school goes frist in life, besides being healthy, when trying to accomplish something. So, I thought about it, and until this day, I haven't failed my parents. I have gotten good grades and been making my parents happy throughout middle school. Yes, I might get in trouble here in there, but I complete my homework, and study to get good grades when taking assessments. I feel happy about myself and that my parents are proud of me. Now, I comprehend why my parents make such an effort to make me and my brothers do good in school, and go to college to get a career.

If I Could Any Famous Person It Would Be...

If I could meet any famous person, it would be Chalino Sanchez. He is a Mexican singer that sang corridos, which is a certain type of music in Mexico. Corridos are usually talkin about someone in real life or something that happened in real life. Although, he passed away in 1992, I would've liked to meet him even though I wasn't even born at those times, so I wish they wouldn't of killed him. He never got to go on to his fascinating career to be even better of an artist that he already was. He gained so much fame because of the songs he made. He just made songs because that's what he loved to do. A lot of people back then, even now, still appreciate him and the songs he made. He inspired a lot of Hispanics to be proud of our culture. He was actually known as "El Rey Del Corrido" which means "King of the Corrido". But, some narcos killed him, just because he inspired hispanics and gained a lot of fame with his songs.

We would spend time together and I would ask him so much questions. I would ask him types of questions about how it inspired him to pass a message through these songs he did. We would go on his pick-up truck, that is well-designed and ride for awhile. We would also ride horses together at a ranch and enjoy Mexico. I would ask him about when he knew that singing was what he wanted in life and teach me how to sing one of his songs. This person is worth meeting because I love his songs and he is my favorite Mexican singer of corridos. He is from past times but I love corridos back then, than now. Back then, songs were way better than the corridos right now. Today's music is nothing compared to the past ones. Chalino Sanchez is also worth meeting because any mexican would love to meet him, he was just a very humbled man, that wasn't a show-off and was a respectful artist too.

  • When I know I'm healthy thanks to my parents

  • Helping out others when their in need, such as giving money to the poor
  • Knowing that I am respectful to others and being kind
  • Knowing that I'm going into a good path in life to find success and staying out of the bad things in life

Perseverance

A time I had to persevere is when I was playing soccer and in one of my games, I was running down the field with the ball, ready to score a goal but then this other player on the other team trips me and fell hard. I couldn't get up, my leg hurt so bad that I couldn't stand up and play. I thought I would be injurd and be out for a few games. But I still needed to play and make that penalty so my team could win. After awhile, as it hurt really bad, I got up and got ready for my penalty. I had mixed feelings in that moment. I was nervous, at the same time still hurt. So, I then shot, praying to god the goalie wouldn't block it and made the goal and my team was happy and so was I. Either way, I was still confident in myself I would make the goal, I'm not saying I'm the best, but I know I'm good at one of the sports I love. This story relates to Nick because we both have self-confidence. He was confident that he could do anything possible even in his adversity. He knew that he could still be alike like all people and he always keeps a smile, because he simply doesn't let himself down, even though he has no arms nor legs. I also have self confidence in everything that I need to prove or maybe not even prove that I know I can do something. I always try my hardest in things, from school to the sports I love playing. We both try our hardest and think we can do it because we know within ourselves, we'll make it because nobody will think you're somebody, if you don't think so yourself.

Best Superbowl Commercial

The Superbowl Commercial that was most impactful was the one from 84 Lumber where it is a commercial about immigration. I picked this one because in the commercial there is a woman and what seems to be her daughter, trying to get to the other side of the border, which is the U.S. They are trying to come to the U.S. to get a better life an support their family because in their home countries like Mexico, the economy is poor and weak, where as in the U.S. there are far more opportunities for people to succeed due to the better economy and beter jobs for a decent pay. I felt like this commecial wanted to get across is that even if they build the wall between the border of the U.S. and Mexico, people can always be welcomed here and nothing can stop people that are going through hard times in their countries and just want to come here for a better life. As in the commecial, this woman and her daughter are walking and walking through the desert until they reach the border and the wall, but these construction workers work hard to make a door through the wall so people can enter the U.S. and succeed. These constitution workers build a giant door or opening because they want to help these poor people that are coming here for a better life, get a chance to be able to overcome the obstacles and succeed here, in the U.S. This commercial, in my opinion, was really amazing because even though whats happening now, they want us to think about how instead of all this racism and hate in our country, we should all be united and be happy together in the U.S., where this country gives us the opportunities to succeed and have hope and freedom. People or immigrants, just come here looking for a better life for their families and themselves to be able to have jobs, in order for them to feed their families and overcome the obstacles they faced in their countries. Overall, I really liked this commercial, it emphasized a great idea, that no matter what, people are always welcomed in the U.S.

Best Advice

The best advice I have ever receieved was when my parents told me that I should go into a good path in life  and not into a bad one. What they meant by that was to not do drugs and get invooved in gangs and all that. They wanted me to stay in school and do my homework so I can get a career when I grow up and get all this money the right way, not the bad way. They meant that they cared about me and wanted me to succeed in life. At first, I was like, well whatever I'll see what will happen later on. But now, I actually have had it in my head to remind me that I do want to make my parents happy and I don't want to fail them, when they always look after me and do all these sacrifices for me to have food, shelter, and water. What I mean is that they work hard for my brothers and I, so we could grow up healthy and with a loving family. So, I feel like it's my turn to make them happy and by that, all I could do right now is bringing home good grades and doing good at school. I also, here and there, tell them what I want to do with my life when I grow up and they believe in me, that I could do it. I would want myself to be someone about business and money and they are really proud of me. This is also why they are my major persons in life why I want myself to succeed so I can make them really happy and give them what they once gave me. The love, the support, and the hope within the family. This is why I actually want to take this advice and take it with me until I succeed and get a career and a family. To be happy is the key to life and that's what I want and what my parents want for me. I have this advice really explicitly within me whenever something is hard for me but I know I shouldn't give up.
