The Greatest Muhammad Ali

The book, The Greatest Muhammad Ali, by Walter Dean Myers, is basically about Muhammad Ali and the obstacles he had to go through in order to get passed them and be what he wanted, to be a professional boxer,. He also wanted to be the greatest of all time in boxing history. As a child, his family and him were living in a bad neighborhood, where they could barely make a living. He wanted to get out of poverty and be someone in life someday. He one day, then started to try out boxing. Despite the fact, that he had to go through racism and hate due to that he was African American. It wouldn't be easy for him, having to be discriminated on and off the boxing ring or in his career. But after having a success in trying to become a boxer and ignoring the hate, he never gave up on what he loved to do. He had his head way up high and knew what he wanted to do in life. During his boxing career, he never gave up, kept fighting, and wasn't scared of anyone. He later then got awarded and received the golden glove. This is how much he loved the sport and kept going. Doing everything possible to be the greatest. He just had the passion, love, and courage for this sport. Besides having a great boxing career, he also inspired manu other African Americans to fight for equality and stop racism. He wasn't just the greatest boxer of all tims, he was an inspiring and motivational person in life that thought about others, not just himself.

I picked this book out due to that Muhammad Ali also inspired me to keep on going even though something is in your way. If you want to achieve something, you have to fight for it. If it means to do the impossible, than do the impossible. There are no limits, only you are the person that will stop yourself from what you want to be or do in life. If you want to be someone in life, you won't stop until you get what you want. This is why one of my favorite sports is boxing, because Ali motivated me to never give up and put forth the effort in what I love doing.

Twisted - Laurie Halse Anderson

The book, Twisted, by Laurie Halse Anderson, is about high school senior named Tyler Miller that for years, has liked a girl in his school named Benthany Milbury, which she is the daughter of the boss where Tyler's Dad works. Tyler never really got any attetion from any girls and was like a "nerd" and not popular in high school. Since Bethany is really gorgeous to everyone in the school, Tyler thinks he'll never get the chance to go out with Bethany. But, then senior year came around, and Tyler has decided to do something remarkable, where nobody will underestimate him ever again. So, one night, he does graffiti on one of the school's walls, but what he doesn't know is that there is a camera outside the building. Soon after he gets caught and has through probation and work to help out his damages to the school. While senior year still goes on through the book, Tyler is becoming more popular and everybody knows him. Even Bethany starts getting close to him and later, she catches feeling for Tyler too. She invites Tyler to a few football games, but then Halloween came around, and she invites Tyler to a Halloween party. Things look like they will get better and they will soon be together. But in the halloween party, where they go into a room, and kiss, not much intense things. But Tyler helds her back because she's drunk and thinks it's wrong to do that to her. So, after the party, Tyler gives Bethany, Parker, which is a junior, and Chip, Bethany's brother, that is quite mean to Tyler. Only when Tyler sees Parker and Bethany kissing, of course he gets mad and drops them off and believes the things between them they already have started, will to down. The next day, on the internet, there are naked pictures of Bethany that people think that Tyler did this. So, police investigate and after awhile, they found Tyler's innocence and his family is happy. After all this, his family and him want to forget about everything that has happened and move on, trying to shape up their lives.

I feel like this book, didn't really have a theme, but I thought about it and figured that it was trying to tell me, because of all the problems that happened to Tyler, is that anyone can have a lot of problems in life and you will always be underestimated. But doesn't mean you should give up on you and fail. Instead you should learn from your mistakes and forget about what happened in the past, if you wver did something wrong and let it go. It made sense to me that I even though we might have problems and go through hard things in life, we can still make the choice if we want it like that or if we want to change. Eveyone has the ability to shape up their life and go through a good path in life in order to succeed and forget about all the negative things that happened to you in the passed. To not let the things that happened in the past, bother you in the present and the choices you make in life.

Propaganda

This propaganda is about the Holocaust because Hitler and the Nazis blamed the Jews for Germany's problems. On this propaganda, "Der ist schuld am kriege" means "Who is to blame for the war." And as you see, a Nazi member is blaming the Jew. "Jude" means "Jew." I picked this propaganda because it really stood out to me. This was actually true because Hitler and the Nazis hated Jews as well as other groups. Adolf Hitler then started to convey others that Jews were the reason for Germany's problems and they would fed in and followed the leader. Soon enough, after Hitler would take power of Germany, the Nazis did all these terible things to the Jews, just because of their religion and hatred toward them. So, they set up concentration camps, where Jews would be forced to work hard until the Nazis didn't need them, and then killed them. Jews barely got anything to eat, some were lucky to stay alive for a long time, and others would not make it due to hunger or disease. Jews were also put into ghettos, that are small cities, where Jews lived, and the Nazis put ghettos to keep Jews segregated and have no rights. Kids and elderly people were prosecuted right away because the Nazis didn't need them or thought they were useless. This is why I picked this propaganda, it has alot of affect and is really related on why and how Hitler and Nazis hated Jews and why the holocaust occurred. It was all because of hatred toward Jews.
