Life is Beautiful

In Life is Beautiful, it is basically about a family during the Holocaust that tried to do anything possible to survive and be together once again. Guido, a man that is jewish, falls in love a women that isn't jewish, named Dora. Since this movie is based on the time during the Holocaust, one day, the Nazis take him and his family. Even though, Dora wasn't jewish, she still went with them because she still wanted to be with her family. This malicious group called The Nazis take them into a train to go to the concentration camp. It is a love story, but also a story that is sad because they try to do anything possible to be together once again with their son, named Goisue.

The similarities between the movie, Life is Beautiful, and what we've read in class is that it told us about how Jews were hated on just because of their religion. This movie is similar to the readings in class is that jews were taken into trains that didn't have much space for them and how they we're then sent to the concentration camps. The jews were either put to work for them or if they were old or too young, they would be killed. They were told by the Nazis that they needed to go take showers, so they thought they we're going to take showers, when actually they were killed by gas chambers. The differences between the movie and what we've learned in class is when Guido and Dora would talk for so long and would'nt even get caught. In the readings, it tells us how jews couldn't have the freedom and never were put together with families. In the readings, jews were always watched by the Nazis. A huge difference is that in the movie, it had more happy moments than the readings, that were really crucial on what happened to the jews.

This movie at the same time is homorous and suspenseful. It was homorous because throughout the movie, Guido and Dora are doing everything to be together and never be seperated from each other. It is also humorous when Guido and his family are taken into the train that was headed to the camps, and Guido tells his son that they are playing a game to win, since Guido didn't want him to know what will happen to them. The movie is suspenseful when Guido is killed by the Nazis guards and when you wasn't sure if the son would get caught or not.

Life is shown as beautiful throughout the movie because it showed us how a family would do anything to stay together and not get seperated. It told me that no matter what, nothing will ever seperate them. They cared more about there families than anything else. It was also beautiful at the beggining of the movie, when Guido and Dora fall in love with each other and are both happy.
